Southeastern Conference Football fans are anxiously awaiting the upcoming football season, especially Aggies. Consequently, it should come as no surprise that hotels in College Station are already taking advantage of the expected influx of fans on game day weekends. According to an article posted in the Wall Street journal, local hotel room rates on game day weekend will increase by 89% and, in addition, many will require a 2 night minimum stay. With the average hotel room rate being $245 a night and their being eight home games… well, I will let you do the math!

My suggestion to this dilemma is purchasing a game day home. I have had several clients that have done this and they have been more than pleased with their investment! Some have purchased a

The Aggie Highway is a proposed freeway that would connect the suburbs of Houston to Highway 6 in Navasota. This highway would specifically extend State Highway 249 in Harris County and connect it to Highway 6 in Grimes County. This would benefit College Station because Grimes County is only minutes from Texas A&M University.

According to TXDOT the roadwork will probably start in the next 2-5 years. TXDOT’s chief planning and project officer, Russell Zapalac, said that environmental studies would begin in early 2013. These studies would be conducted in the Houston district and the Bryan district.

The highway would be beneficial to businesses that transport goods between Houston, College Station, and the Port of Houston according to David Ellis,

College Station is in the top five for little known places to retire… according to USA Today. I agree! My husband and I came back to College Station in 1995 to raise our family. It was the best decision for us. College Station offers so much. We have cultural events and big sporting events too! Whoop!

But there is something else that I have noticed. It is how the youthfulness of the town affects those of us who are getting a little older.
