This past Saturday, October 29th, Nathan Rich and I co-hosted our first (hopefully of many) Home Buyer Class.  It was a FREE event for those that wanted to learn more about the process of purchasing property - from both sides of the transaction, lending & real estate.

We provided breakfast and coffee, and spent the beginning of our time together chatting about real estate goals, property interests, mostly just getting to know each other.  Overall, the consensus was that the home buying process can be incredibly overwhelming, especially for those that are first-time buyers.  Although I didn’t enjoy hearing this, it is why we created the class – to take something as clear as mud and make it better.

Living in Bryan-College Station

In my last blog post I talked a little about what it’s like to live in “Aggieland”. The impact our university has on the twin cities is undeniable; Bryan-College Station would not look anything like it does today if it weren’t for Texas A&M. These towns have a lot to offer outside of the university!

Local Parks & Outdoors

Bryan-College Station has PLENTY of spaces to enjoy the outdoors. The combined parks and recreation departments for the City of College Station and the City of Bryan have 50+ parks and trails listed on their websites. They also have pools for hours of summer activities and fun, facilities for rentals for events, and they run year-round programs for children, adults and seniors.

Regardless of your reasoning, purchasing a home (especially your first one) can takes several steps.  Even if your timeline is closer to 6 months or a year, here are some ways to get prepared:

1. Decide on your budget - this may seem surprising to some, but just because you're approved for a loan amount doesn't always mean you'd be comfortable making the mortgage payment.  It's a good idea to have in mind how much you'd be willing to spend on your house every month. That…
