February is here and it just so happens to be one of my favorite months! For one, my birthday is in February. Without this month, I wouldn’t be here. Secondly, it’s an important month because it’s Black History Month. Lastly, Valentine’s Day is this month and it’s so imperative to spread love. It costs nothing to spread kindness and cheer, but if you’re wanting to buy a gift for someone else or even yourself, I’ve got you covered.

Here’s my Valentine’s Day gift guide:

Something else to do in February is to create an at home office. With COVID still here, offices are becoming essential to homes. Many buyers are looking for a space that is a designated office or can be multifunctional and used as one. If you’re thinking of selling, it’s a good idea to try to show off a space like this.

Here are a few rooms that can be used as an office:

Guest Bedroom- A guest bedroom is your best option and the most subtle way to do it. You can use a nice rug with a desk on it and make it the focal point of the room. You can also stage it in the most likely way buyers would use it by having a daybed on one wall and a desk on the other wall. This way you can use it as a guest bedroom as well as your at home office.

Formal Dining Room- Many homeowners are getting away from the formal dining area. The space can be an area that is hardly ever used or it can be utilized in a different way. Depending on the set up, this room can be repurposed as an office. Some formal dining areas have doors which is ideal for an office.

Breakfast area- This is another eating area that can be transitioned into an office. This room is probably the least ideal, but it is an option. You might want to keep your formal dining area and are more open to opting out of the breakfast area. You could set it up completely like an office or have it subtle by using a table that doubles as a desk. Many kitchens are adding built-in desks, so you could even do that. Make sure it has a good flow to it though!

Master Bedroom- At first thought this might not seem like the best idea, but it actually makes the most sense depending on size of the room. Some master bedrooms have sitting areas or a nook that would be perfect to use as a work space. If you have a window that bumps out, you can have a desk built in that space. You could also have a desk built with shelving above it to make it look more appealing.

With more people starting to work from home and some possibly permanently working from home, an at home office is an important space to consider.  Whether I’m working with a buyer or seller, I use my 9 years of experience to help create options that best fit my clients needs. I’d love to be your contact for all things real estate and BCS related. I hope you all have a great Valentine’s Day and help spread kindness!
