If one of your goals for 2021 is to spruce up your home, why not use the pantone color of the year? This year is special because they picked two colors that pair well with each other. The two colors are Ultimate Gray and Illuminating. Ultimate Gray is pretty obvious from the name, but Illuminating is a vibrant yellow. They selected Ultimate Gray because it represents being practical and dependable. Illuminating was chosen because it symbolizes warm and optimistic which gives hope to the future. These two balance each other out and pair very well in the home together. Here are some ideas of how to use them together in each room:

Bedroom- Your bedroom is your private space, so you can have a little bit of fun with it. Accent walls are back in trend, so you could do a fun design of the colors together on one wall. Think like a Chevron design or simple stripes. If you want more subtle, you can paint the room in one color and accent things like the comforter with the other.

Bathroom- Tiled floor with designs on them continue to be very popular in the bathroom. I suggest pairing a tiled floor with gray designs with a yellow shower curtain or even yellow wall paint.

Living Room- This room will probably get the most use, so you don’t want it to be too busy visually. I suggest keeping it simple with solid patterns or only a few statement pieces. One idea is to have a gray couch paired with yellow pillows or a nice yellow accent chair. A lamp shade is a good way to combine the colors on one item without being too loud. Art can be another way to have the colors together in a tasteful way.

Kitchen- The kitchen is somewhat of a creative space since you are cooking there, so be creative with your décor. If you have an island, paint it gray or yellow. Then, the cabinetry you can paint the opposite color depending how bold you’re feeling. The backsplash can be a nice pattern of the two colors together. Colorful appliances are another continued trend, so you can always have a pop of yellow with your refrigerator. Prefer a more toned down look in the kitchen? No problem! Use the colors with towels, coffee/tea pot, bar stools, and other little pieces like that.

Dining Room- This room is probably best to keep the touches simple and accent pieces. I would use these colors in the form of plate settings and napkins to match. You could also have an elegant rug with a pattern of gray and yellow under the dining room table.

Outside- Outside is probably one of the most fun spots of the home. You almost can’t go wrong using these colors outside. A pop of color on the door like yellow would be my go-to added with gray exterior paint would be adorable. Patio furniture, pots, flowers, and yard art are just a few places you can use these colors as well!

Interior design can be a really fun part of real estate, but there can be some not so fun parts of real estate. I’m here to help with the fun as well as the not so fun and help take the stress away. I’d love to help with any of your real estate needs! I hope this helped give you ideas to spruce up your home and ideas on how to work out during this tough time. Have a great start to the new year! Cheers!
