Happy New Year! Welcome to year 2020. With the new year, comes resolutions or goals for it and a new pantone color of the year. One of the most common new year resolutions or goals is to lose weight or be active! I’m sure you are not surprised. Many people join a gym, but why not explore the walking/jogging trails in your very own community? There are many parks in BCS and surrounding areas, but here are a few that I enjoy. I hope you enjoy, too!

  1. Veterans Memorial Park- I love the trail for this park because it has statues and information of our nation's history throughout. It has a monument with names of veterans that served which two of my grandfather-in-law’s names are on it. It is a tranquil and peaceful trail. There is also soccer and softball

Winter is coming! Even though we may be trying to hold on to the last couple weeks of fall, colder temperatures are headed our way! With dropping temperatures comes a new set of maintenance items to prepare for as homeowners. This week on the blog, I am compiling a few of the most important (and pertinent for the Bryan/College Station area) tips you'll need to prepare for this winter weather.

1) Check Your Heating System

For most households, you probably haven't had to turn on your heater until recently! Some homeowners know their units well enough to do a inspection on their own, but a lot of homeowners choose to have a HVAC technician come out when the season changes just to inspect the unit & clean if needed. If your home has a

Traditions is a community on the rise in Bryan College Station. It is located "on the west side of Bryan / College Station, virtually surrounded by Texas A&M University yet secluded within the oak and elm forests of central Texas... Traditions Club and Community features a Nicklaus Design golf course, a burgeoning town center, the region's best-in-class corporate campus and all of the cultural, wellness and culinary amenities befitting a world-class private club." It's obvious to see why Traditions has quickly turned into one of the most sought after communities for Bryan College Station residents.

Being a member of the Traditions community myself, I'm familiar with all that it has to offer and have been able to utilize this expertise in the real

Closing Costs are the topic of today's blog post! This is an extremely important topic, because lately I have been realizing that a lot of buyers (and some sellers) do not factor in closing costs when considering purchasing/selling a home. With these costs varying anywhere from $1000-$20,000, they are definitely something buyers should be educated on and aware of upfront. So what exactly are closing costs?    Closing costs are the fees and charges paid to finalize the purchase/sale of a home. Both sellers and buyers will incur closing costs during a transaction. So who is responsible for what?  This graphic just represents the most common closing costs incurred by the buyer/seller. Certain things (for example the survey and owner…

Living in the age of HGTV brings along a lot of desire to purchase "fixer upper" properties. What we are also seeing along with this fixer upper craze is the trend of homeowners cutting out the middle-man and taking on renovations themselves. While I 100% support taking on these renovations, but it is important to remember to always get the necessary permits. Most people are surprised at just how many home projects actually require permits. Researching/applying for the necessary permits should always be one of the first steps when planning for your home projects. Always check with the city to ensure that you have applied for the correct permits, because if not fines and fees could occur. Most homeowners don't realize that projects as small as

From the desk of Mae Nowak, Realtor®

On the corner of W Villa Maria and South College Avenue in Bryan, Texas sits the 148 acre Travis B Bryan Municipal Golf Course. The city of Bryan has discussed turning the golf course into a super park for more than 5 years, and over the last year, plans for that are finally being released. According to city officials, "the municipal course had become a financial drain for the city over the years, losing around $200,000 annually on what has been a more than $900,000-a-year operation". The idea of creating a "super park" was primarily focused on the need to use sports and tourism to the economic advantages of the city. The goal is to provide attractions that would bring in out-of-town and overnight
