When you first buy a house there’s so much excitement and joy that goes into the whole process. You simply love your home; everything looks beautiful! As the years go by, life happens and you may not remember that euphoric feeling. This February, ask yourself - "Are you still in love with your home?" If the answer is no, here are some tips to restore your passion for your property!
Paint - Painting an accent wall one of your favorite colors to help depict the feeling of the room. You can paint it a solid color or get creative and add a pattern. Painting your front door a lovely color can increase your curb appeal. Even a nice coat of paint over fan blades can really make them seem like new.
Accents - Add colorful throws and pillows to couches and chairs. Not only does this add color to your room but it also makes it extremely cozy. Area rugs are perfect for adding in pops of color and also great for helping soundproof a room.
Windows - To give the illusion of large windows, hang your curtains high and wide. Create fullness by adding a second panel to each side. This makes your space appear grander and larger. For more privacy, consider opaque curtains - this way you can remove your blinds and enjoy the full view your window provides.
Scents- When you walk into your home, the first thing you will notice is its smell. Candles are a wonderful addition to any home. Their scents can add to the essence of your home, and their relaxing glow makes a room cozy and warm. Try adding a few to your mantel, end tables, or even beside your bathroom tub. Oil diffusers or melting wax are a non-flammable option.
Flowers - Fresh flowers are always ideal, however faux flowers can be just as beautiful. Use them to compliment other décor or to be a focal point in a room. Get creative with your designs: use single stemmed flowers in small vases arranged together or make a larger arrangement by adding greenery. Flowers will brighten and add life to your home. If you are working with fresh flowers remember to change their water out daily to help them last longer.
