In December, Texas Govenor Rick Perry, announced the relocation of a Fourtune 500 tech company to College Station. Cognizant Technology Solutions provides outsourced information technology, consulting and business process services for companies. Cognizant employs 166,400 people and nets $8 million per year in revenue in 49 states. The company is experted to hire another 10,000 American within the next 3 years, 750 of those in Texas. With Texas A&M being a big decision maker for the relocation, the company will be giving A&M a multi-year grant. The money will fund summer camps to train future Aggies all across Texas, as well as helping to fund the BioForce program.
Cognizant has bought SourceNet, a company that has been a business partner wuth the city and the Reasearch Valley. College Station Mayor Nancy Berry said, "Having Cognizant in the community and expanding on their SourceNet employee base is a good partnership in relation to the Research Valley, College Station and the whole Brazos Valley." Governor Rick Perry, class of 1972, spoke on how the city of College Station continues to grow and Cognizant moving here is very significant.
