Tips For Tackling The 2019 Fall BCS Parade of Homes

Posted by Alexis Knox on Monday, September 23rd, 2019 at 3:40pm

It is officially fall which means that the 2019 Fall Parade of Homes is only two weeks away!! Parade of Homes weekends are some of my favorite weekends of the year because it gives everyone the chance to see all the new construction homes that the Greater Brazos Valley has to offer. Upwards of 30 homes are usually on Parade, so this weekend can be overwhelming. That's where my tips & tricks come in handy! Follow these tips & you''ll be sure to have a successful weekend looking at beautiful homes!

#1: Go in a group.

The Parade of Homes spans neighborhoods all over Brazos Valley. Although most of the homes will be in Bryan/College Station, going from neighborhood to neighborhood takes a bit of time & gas. Carpool with your friends and family to make it a fun group experience, and as an added bonus save money on gas!

#2: Have a plan.

You have Saturday & Sunday to see all the homes on Parade. Follow the link to Insite Magazine's digital parade of homes guide to get a full list of all the addresses of the homes that will be open. This way you can know which ones are must sees (maybe you have a favorite neighborhood or favorite builder and want to make those a priority) and which routes you will take to view them. The Builder Association works very hard to make sure signs are posted all throughout town to guide towards homes, but it is always good to have a game plan.

#3: Bring a notepad/pen.

Seeing 30+ homes in one weekend is overwhelming, so it helps to have a way to organize your thoughts. If you are looking to purchase or build a home in the near future, this event is great for you! You come face-to-face with builders & their teams to ask questions. Keep a log of what styles you like/don't like, which neighborhoods are most appealing, etc. That way once you are ready to seriously start looking, you'll know exactly what information to give your Realtor.

#4: Sign in first!

Each house you go to will likely require you to sign in on a sign-in sheet. Go ahead and knock this out first, so that you can take your time looking at the home. Only one person per group will need to sign in. Each builder will ask for different information, but you expect them to ask for at least an email address.

#5: Have fun!

This is such a fun event, so make sure you remember to enjoy it! Most of these homes will have some delicious goodies & snacks (sometimes even gift bags to take home!) so it is fun for all the members of your family!

Hopefully I will see you out and about on Parade of Homes Weekend. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have. Happy first day of fall & happy house hunting!!
